FCA COBS 9 Suitability Report
The Suitability Report is a formal report aligned to FCA COBS 9.4 and the Consumer Duty rules — the document the file needs for compliance sign-off. TakeNote drafts it from the meeting transcript so the adviser starts from a structured draft rather than a blank template.
Generating the report
Open a meeting, go to its Documents section, and select Generate on the FCA COBS 9 Suitability Report card. A transcript is required, so record or upload the meeting first. The report streams in as it is written and opens in the document viewer when complete.
Generate a document
What it contains
The report is structured around the areas a suitability report is expected to cover, drawing on the objectives, circumstances, and advice captured in the meeting. Because it is generated from the transcript, anything not discussed in the meeting will not appear — you add or correct detail during review.
Dear Mr Whitfield,
Thank you for meeting with me on 14 July 2026 to review your retirement planning. This letter summarises the advice we discussed and confirms the next steps we agreed.
Your objectives
You confirmed that your priority is to consolidate your existing pension arrangements and to target a sustainable retirement income from age 62.
Next steps
We will prepare a full suitability report and contact your existing providers to request transfer values.
Download and regenerate
Use Download Word to save a .docx copy for further editing, or Regenerate to produce a new draft from the same transcript. Regenerating replaces the stored version. Every generated report also appears in the central Documents library and on the client's record.
